Days: Do you think EJ made up this whole story about being deported to get closer to Sammie?

I think he's just trying to keep her from getting the marraige anulled. I think he was just trying to make it look like he was trying to get the annullment as well to get on her good side. I find it a very convient time for the gov. to want to deport him.
